“By the dim and yellow light of the moon, as it forced its way through the window-shutters, I beheld the wretch-the miserable monster whom I had created. He held up the curtain of the bed; and his eyes, if eyes they may be called, were fixed on me. His jaws opened...”
The story of Victor Frankenstein who, obsessed with creating life itself, plunders graveyards for the material to fashion a new being, but whose botched creature sets out to destroy his maker, would become the world's most famous work of horror fiction, and remains a devastating exploration of the limits of human creativity.
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley’s iconic gothic novel, also a key work for science fiction genre and the Romantic movement, continues to inspire adaptations on stage and on film. It was conceived when she was only eighteen and living with her future husband Percy Shelley in Switzerland and first published in 1818.

About this pre-owned copy
This is a good+ book with the jacket, novel pages and binding all in great condition.
In the prelims, there is a small ownership sticker to the foot of the half-title page with a contemporary inked date beneath. There is a large inked year of the original text at the head of the title page. These are the only provenance marks: the book is otherwise in very good condition.
There are visible marks on the slip case and also some light sunning at the foot of the spine. It appears to be from the 2004 printing rather than the 2005 reprint. A very neat striking volume.
